About the Recipe
Coming out of the lab with an off-the-cuff inspiration, this is essentially a Chinese style rice with non-traditional ingredients that take it to new heights. If you want to add something different to your holiday dinners, this is sure to be a crowd pleaser.

Ingredients
1 batch of “Steamed Long Grain Rice"
2 pre-cooked chicken breasts or turkey (about 315 grams), diced into ½ to 1 cm cubes
1 ½ cups of pre-cooked black beans
2 medium sized onions (about 240 grams), diced into ½ to 1 cm cubes
240 grams of slivered savoy cabbage, cut into 3-4 cm long slivers about ½ cm thick
1 ½ cups of fresh or frozen green peas (allow frozen peas to thaw before using)
1 red bell pepper (about 180 grams), diced into 1.5 to 2 cm cubes
2-3 cloves of garlic (about 18 grams), finely chopped
2 green onions (about 29 grams), chopped into ½ to 1 cm pieces

2 tablespoons of salted butter
¼ cup + 2 tablespoons of naturally brewed, light soy sauce
½ teaspoon of umami powder (MSG / Accent)
¼ teaspoon of salt
Preparation
Pour the oil into a large non-stick pot or a wok and add the butter.
Set the temperature to medium-high.
Put a few pieces of chopped garlic in the pot/wok to serve as a temperature gauge. Once the garlic, browns, the desired temperature has been reached.
Once the oil has heated, beat the eggs and add them to the pot.
Using a spatula, move the eggs around as you are cooking them to fluff them up more.
Using a spatula, cut the cooked egg into bite sized pieces.
Add the onions and peas then stir-fry for about 2 minutes, or until the onions are glazed.
Add the cabbage and stir-fry for about 3 minutes, then add about ¼ teaspoon of salt.
Add the black beans, peppers and remaining garlic, then stir-fry for 2-3 minutes.
Add the chicken and stir fry just enough to evenly distribute it.
Add the rice and stir fry for about 3 minutes, or until all the rice is well blended with the ingredients.
Add the umami powder and soy sauce then stir-fry for about one minute.
Add the green onions and stir-fry for a few seconds.
Serve.
