Sweet Pickle Brine

About the Recipe

There is a certain sense of satisfaction that comes with making your own pickles. This brine is a breeze to make and has a wonderful flavor. Use it with your favorite vegetables and enjoy the pleasure of making your own preserves, like most folks used to do not so long ago.

Ingredients

Directions (for a 1 liter jar).  For every extra jar, repeat the ingredients.


  • 2 ½ cups of cold water

  • ½ cup of white vinegar

  • ½ cup of apple cider vinegar

  • ½ cup of granulated white sugar

  • 1 ½ teaspoons of pickling salt

  • 2 teaspoons of celery seeds

  • 2 tablespoons of mustard seeds

  • 8 whole peppercorns

  • 1 bay leaf

Preparation

  • In a saucepot, combine all the ingredients.

  • Bring to a boil over medium heat.

  • Let the brine boil for about 2 minutes

  • Remove from heat.

  • Add brine to jars.
